Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that he would be given assistance of Rs 4,500 crore to Bhutan. Modi has given this help to his 12th Five Year Plan after extensive negotiations with Bhutan’s own counterpart Route Sharing. Bhutan was also a party in the Daulakh dispute between India and China. In this case, this help is being considered as very important. Modi said in a statement to the media that he has assured the Prime Minister of Bhutan that India will continue to play an important role in the overall development of Bhutan as a trusted friend. The Prime Minister thanked Sherring for Bhutan’s decision to launch the Indian Rupee card. The rupee is card debit and credit card payment network.

The Prime Minister of Bhutan said that the main purpose of his visit is to take India-Bhutan relations to new heights. Also said that Prime Minister Modi also gave assurances to Bhutanese businessmen who were influenced by GST’s implementation in India. “We are very pleased that Prime Minister Modi personally expressed our commitment to us, supported us … The Indian government has fully supported our 12th Five Year Plan. After the implementation of GST in India, our businessmen also affected will be helped.

After assuming office, he arrived here on Thursday on his first foreign trip. Sherring said on this occasion that Prime Minister Modi was the first President of any country who congratulated him on election victory. He also thanked India for supporting the needs related to the development of the country. This was a traditional welcome to Sherring’s Rashtrapati Bhawan one day earlier. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj also met the Prime Minister of Bhutan on Friday morning.
