Election Panel Observe To AAP Described Hawala Money: NEW DELHI: The Election Commission has released a notice to the leader of Aam Aadmi Party i.e. Arvind Kejriwal, requesting that they clarify discrepancies in donations documented by the party amid the financial year 2014-15. The Commission hosts requested that the party to clarify the issue within 20 days, coming up short which, move could be made against it. Under the principles, the Commission can suspend or pull back recognition of a political party.

The letter from the Commission stated that donation has taken by AAP from hawala operators to the tune of Rs. 2 crore, which were appeared as “voluntary donations”. The party, the Commission stated, also has not represented donations worth Rs. 13.16 crore.

In February 2015, AAP received clean chit from the Center for another case that blamed it for accepting unlawful foreign funding.

But in February a year ago, the department of Income Tax had indicated donations disagreement against AAP. In a letter to the Election Commission, the Income Tax department said there were discrepancies in the information of donations in two financial years i.e. 2013-14 and 2014-15

The Election Commission, in its letter, stated the party has not observed transparency rules/ guidelines and the revelation on its official site is wrong.

The notice said the AAP had presented the first contribution report for 2014-15.

“The first report contains a list of 2,696 contributors with the aggregate donations amounting up to Rs. 37,45,44,618 and the modified commitment report demonstrates the total sum as Rs. 37,60,62,631 got from 8,264 contributors,” the letter said.

The survey commission said for this year, a report from the workplace of the chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes talked about “concealment of donations taken by the AAP” amid Financial Year 2014-15.
