School Reopen Guidelines: A few days more… then children’s schools will open- States are moving towards opening schools as the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic slows. In at least 12 states, schools have either opened or the process is underway. These include states like Bihar, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chhattisgarh. In most of the places, schools are being opened initially for the students of class 10-12 with 50% attendance. Apart from this, some rules have been fixed, which will be necessary to follow after the school opens.

Recently, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that children are more capable of fighting Kovid-19. Many states have talked about opening schools citing this. Let us know what is the latest situation regarding the opening of schools in various states.

Rajasthan: All schools will open from 2nd August

Rajasthan Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasara said on Thursday that all schools in the state will open from August 2. He informed about the opening of the school after the cabinet meeting. According to officials, the guidelines will soon be issued by the Home Department. No decision has been taken on opening coaching institutes and universities yet.

Himachal Pradesh: Preparations are being made to open schools from August 2

Himachal Pradesh cabinet has also decided to open schools from next month. However, from August 2, only schools up to class 10-12 will open. All precautions related to Kovid-19 will be followed. Students of classes 5 to 8 will also be allowed to come to school from August 2 to clear their doubts. Coaching, tuition and training institutes will be opened in the state from July 26.

Gujarat: Higher Secondary School will open from July 26

Last week (July 15) in the state, Class 12 and colleges have been allowed to start offline classes. On Thursday, the Gujarat government said that classes for class 9-11 will also start from July 26. At present 50% attendance (not compulsory) will be kept and students will get entry in the school only after approval from the parents. All school staff must have required at least one dose of the vaccine.

Bihar: Juniors’ studies will start from August

All schools in Bihar from class 1 to 10 can be opened from the second week of August. State Education Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary said that if the conditions remain favourable, a decision will be taken in the meeting of the Disaster Management Group to open the school from the second week of August. Schools for senior classes have already opened.

Madhya Pradesh: Schools to open from July 26, SOP did not come

It has been decided to open classes and hostels of classes 11 and 12 in Madhya Pradesh from July 26. For the students of classes 9 and 10, the schools will open from August 5, but the consent of the parents will be required. Now schools will open with 50% attendance and classes will run four days a week. However, the Kovid SOP has not been issued yet. There is suspense on whether schools will open in Bhopal from next Monday.

Punjab: Permission to open class 10-12 schools

Schools for classes 10, 11 and 12 are opening in Punjab from July 26. However, only those teachers and staff will get entry in the school who will be fully vaccinated. The decision of the parents will be final on whether the students come to school or not. If the situation remains under control then the rest of the classes can be opened from 2nd August.

Schools are also opening in Chhattisgarh from August 2

Chhattisgarh will open schools for classes 10 and 12 from August 2. At present 50% attendance will be allowed. Colleges will also open from this date. Students will be called for classes on alternate days. However, it will not be mandatory. Parent’s permission will be required. All Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) will also open from 2nd August.

Schools to open in Andhra Pradesh from August 16

The Andhra Pradesh government said on Wednesday that schools would be opened from August 16. Right now only teachers are going to school on alternate days here. Children are allowed to go to school to clear their doubts.

  • Bihar: 12 July (Class 10 and 12)
  • Gujarat : 15 July (Class 12)
  • Maharashtra: 15th July (Classes 8 to 12, only where there is no case)
  • Karnataka: July 1 (virtually)
  • Chandigarh: 19 July
