One more vaccine for coronavirus approved in India

91.6 percent effective ‘Sputnik V’: RDIF

Recently an agreement was signed between the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and Hyderabad-based Virchow Biotech for the production of Sputnik V vaccine in India. A joint statement from both of them stated that the technology transfer work is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2021, after which commercial production of the vaccine will begin. According to their statement, Sputnik is 91.6 percent effective.

In fact, in other states of the country including Maharashtra, Delhi Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, cases of coronavirus infection are increasing. However, strict and precautionary measures are being taken by the administration. Many prohibitions, including weekend lockdown to night curfew, have begun. According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry, 1,68,912 new Kovid-19 cases were reported in the country on Sunday and 904 infected people died. At the same time, there are a total of 12,01,009 active cases in the country.
