Honda Civic launched in India: Honda Cars India has hoped that according to a senior executive of the company, due to the good performance of compact sedan Amaze, the fiscal year will be eliminated with sales growth of 8%. Our sales increased by 6.5 percent in the April-February period this financial year. “We are expecting to sell about 17,000 units in March,” Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) chairman and chief executive officer Gaku Nakanishi told PTI.

He further said that it will translate for an increase of 8%  out of 1.7 lakh units sold in the previous financial year. “We expect that in March (Passenger Vehicles)sales will be flat for the industry and the Industry’s overall growth will be around 3 %, whereas Honda will be more than Double”, said Nakanishi.

He said that the increase in HCIL sales is mainly driven by compact sedan Amazon. Commenting on the newly launched Civic, he said, “It caters to our Sadden portfolio in India.”

All-new Civic comes with both petrol and diesel fuel options. Petrol version will come with a CVT (automatic) transmission with a 1.8-liter engine. Diesel trims will come with a 1.6-liter engine with manual six-speed transmission.

According to the company, petrol variants provide a fuel efficiency of 16.5 km per liter, while diesel variants provide a fuel efficiency of 26.8 km/liter. After the sale of about 55,000 units since its launch in 2006, Honda had closed Civic Sedan in India in 2013. The price of new civic in petrol is between Rs 17.7 lakh and Rs 21 lakh, while the diesel option comes at a price of Rs 20.5 lakh. 22.3 lakhs (all prices X-showroom).

The company currently has catering for different customers at different price points – Amaze, City and Accord. Like Sedan, he said, “We also want the full range of SUVs. We know that there are gaps in our SUV portfolio which we are working to fill. ”

However, Nakanishi did not elaborate when and how many SUVs will be launched in India. The company currently sells Compact SUV W-RV, Mid-size B-RV and Top end C-RV. When Asked about the hatchback segment, where the company has no presence after the closure of its Brio model, Nakanishi said that Honda currently does not have plans to fill it. Amaze will remain the entry-level model of the company, he said, “The volumes we lose due to the absence of a brio will be made by selling from models like Amaze, Civic, and others which are in our portfolio. “.
