Jaipur: The family court granted permission for the former royal family member and former legislator Diya Kumari and her husband Narendra Singh divorced on Tuesday. The court has said in the order that both are no longer husband and wife. Chancellor of the court, Jhumar Lal Chauhan, ordered this.
Narendra Singh and Diya Kumari had filed a petition in the Family Court to get a divorce with mutual consent. The court had fixed the hearing on the request letter after six months. On this, both of them approached the court and pleaded for hurrying the case. On their behalf, a prayer was presented in this regard and it was said that they have been living separately for about one and a half years and now want to be separated from mutual consent. Therefore, the divorce decree can be issued by accepting their divorce petition. Significantly, both of them were married 21 years ago in August 1997.

For some time, Diya Kumari and Narendra Singh were living separately from each other. A few months ago, the couple decided to separate from each other. He then filed a divorce application with the consent of the family court located at Gandhi Nagar in Jaipur.

Diya Kumari entered politics in the year 2013, walking on her grandson of her grandmother, Rajmata Gayatri Devi. He contested on BJP ticket from Sawai Madhopur and became a legislator. In the recent assembly elections in Rajasthan, Diya Kumari had refused to contest the election, citing personal reasons. At that time it was speculated that he could present his candidature from Jaipur in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
