Security cover of ‘Y’ category to Serum CEO Adar Poonawala, will be applicable across the country- New Delhi. Serum Institute of India CEO Adar Poonawala has been given the security cover of CRPF’s ‘Y’ category. PTI has given information about this by quoting the officials. The Union Home Ministry has issued this order to give Y category protection to Adar Poonawala. This protection will be made available by the Central Reserve Police Force i.e. CRPF, which will be applicable throughout the country.
Let us know that the Serum Institute of India (SII) on Wednesday reduced the price of vaccines sold to the states. Under this, the states will now have to pay Rs 300 per dose instead of the previously announced Rs 400 per dose for the vaccine. The company has taken this step after widespread criticism of the price policy, as the serum institute initially sold Covishield at a rate of Rs 150 per dose to the central government.
SII Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Adar Poonawalla announced the reduction of the vaccine price for the states on Twitter. He wrote, “As a charitable approach from the Serum Institute of India, the price for the states is being reduced from Rs 400 to Rs 300 per dose. This will save the states thousands of crores of rupees. This will allow for more vaccinations and save countless lives. ”
Government asked companies to reduce prices
In fact, on Monday, the Central Government had asked the Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech to reduce the price of their Covid-19 vaccines. The government asked these two companies to price vaccines at a time when various states criticized these companies and accused them of profiteering during such a big crisis. Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech has fixed the price of its Covid-19 vaccine ‘Covaxin’ at Rs 600 per dose for state governments and Rs 1,200 per dose for private hospitals.
At the same time, Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII) announced the price of its Covid-19 vaccine ‘Covishield’ at Rs 400 per dose for the state governments and Rs 600 per dose for private hospitals. However, now the states will be given a vaccine at the rate of Rs 300 per dose. Both vaccines are available to the central government at the rate of Rs 150 per dose.
