Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed this meeting virtually. When Modi was speaking, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was also listening to him. Referring to Afghanistan, PM Modi said that the challenges related to peace, security and lack of trust are increasing radicalization. Modi said that the situation in Afghanistan makes this challenge more clear. Let us know what the Prime Minister said in the SCO meeting.

12.10 PM: India is committed to increasing its connectivity with Central Asia. We believe that landlocked Central Asian countries can benefit immensely by connecting with India’s vast market. No connectivity initiative can be a one-way street. Connectivity projects should be consultative, transparent and participatory to ensure mutual trust. In this there should be respect for the territorial integrity of all countries: PM Modi

12.07 PM: Be it technologies like UPI and RuPay cards to increase financial inclusion, or digital platforms like Aarogya-Setu and COWIN in our fight against COVID, we have voluntarily shared all these with other countries as well: PM Modi

12.05 PM: In India and in almost all the countries of the SCO, there are restrained, tolerant and inclusive institutions and traditions associated with Islam. SCO should work to develop a strong network between them. In this context, I appreciate the useful work being done by the RATS mechanism of SCO: PM Modi

12.00 PM: I believe that the biggest challenges in this area are related to peace, security and trust-deficit. And the root cause of these problems is the increasing radicalization. Recent developments in Afghanistan have made this challenge more clear: PM Modi

11.58 AM: This year we are also celebrating the 20th anniversary of SCO. It is a matter of happiness that new friends are joining us on this auspicious occasion. I welcome Iran as a new member state of the SCO. I also welcome the three new dialogue partners – Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Qatar: PM Modi
