Despite the agreement in Ladakh: India does not trust China -Modi Govt in preparation for long ‘war’- The border dispute with China that started last year on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh is still going on. Although both the countries have agreed to end the tension and recently the 12th round of talks of the military commander was also held. During the talks, both the countries have agreed to withdraw troops from the Gogra patrolling point, but despite this, India does not trust China and the Modi government does not want to rush to consider it as the end of the dispute.

Modi government preparing for long ‘war’ in Ladakh

According to the report, in view of the past antics of China, the Narendra Modi government is ready for a long ‘war’ with China in eastern Ladakh. It took nearly eight years to resolve the 1986 Sumdorong Chu military standoff in Arunachal Pradesh. In view of this, the Modi government is ready for further rounds of military talks without unilaterally weakening the Indian position on the current standoff in eastern Ladakh. Along with this, the Indian Army is keeping a close watch on the eastern sector. A senior official said, ‘It is an endless night.’

The Chinese army is in an aggressive mode in these areas

Ladakh Corps Commander Lt Gen PGK Menon said, ‘The Indian view is that all contentious points between the two armies should be resolved. This includes Depsang Bulge and Gogra-Hot Springs, where the PLA (Chinese Army) remains in an offensive mode.

Modi government is not considering diplomacy suggestion

The Modi government is very clear that the path to a resumption of bilateral relations with China goes through the proposal of Ladakh LAC as a first step. The Modi government is not considering any proposal suggesting parallel diplomacy of the 1980s. For example- restoring economic ties during the military standoff in eastern Ladakh. This is because the PLA is fully deployed across the LAC in eastern Ladakh. In addition, the Chinese Air Force is strengthening its air bases in the Western Theater Command with advanced fighter aircraft and missile systems.
