CM Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal for permission to organize Chhath Puja in Delhi. The letter states that the Covid epidemic in the capital is under control in the last three months. CM Kejriwal has urged to allow Chhath Puja to follow the Covid protocol.
Permission taking full care of a covid protocol
In the letter, Kejriwal has written that the people of Delhi celebrate Chhath with great faith. This festival is an important part of our Vedic Aryan culture. Worshiping the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya on Chhath Puja, the person gets the benefits of health, prosperity, etc. The Covid epidemic is under control in Delhi for the last three months. He has written, ‘I am of the view that taking full care of the Covid protocol, permission should be given to celebrate Chhath Puja.’
UP, Haryana and Rajasthan cited
Kejriwal further wrote in the letter that neighboring states like UP, Haryana, and Rajasthan have also given permission to celebrate Chhath Puja with proper arrangements for the health and safety of their citizens. Kejriwal wrote that I request you to convene a meeting of DDMA as soon as possible and give permission to organize Chhath Puja celebrations.
BJP had said – will celebrate Chhath in a grand way
On October 11, Delhi BJP President Adesh Gupta had announced that Chhath festival would be celebrated in a grand manner in the capital. He had said that the party-ruled municipal corporation would make arrangements for it. Earlier, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), in an order last week, had banned Chhath Puja celebrations at public places including river banks, reservoirs and temples in view of the COVID-19 situation.
