Pegasus Case: More than 500 celebrities wrote to the Chief Justice- demanding the Supreme Court- In the Pegasus espionage case, more than 500 people and groups across the country have written a letter to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, requesting his intervention in the matter. The letter states that using Pegasus spyware, the phones of journalists, opposition party leaders and others have been spied on.

Raising all the questions through the letter, the Chief Justice has been urged that the Supreme Court should investigate the matter of whether any Indian institution or company had purchased Pegasus? If so, how was it paid? In the letter, it has also been demanded that if Pegasus was bought, then who was to be spied on, how it was decided. What is the use of that information? What is the justification for such a target? Which constitutional authority is monitoring the privacy violations of journalists, politicians, lawyers, human rights activists and Supreme Court staff?

In the letter, only the Supreme Court is trusted by the people, especially women. In such a situation, the questions being raised, only the Supreme Court can look into it. In a letter to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, it has been said that the mobile phones of women staff who have accused CJI Ranjan Gogoi of sexual harassment have also been hacked. Human rights activists have also been victimized.

It is expected that the Supreme Court Office will not delay in taking notice in this matter and will look into the questions raised to protect the rights of the people, it has been said in this letter. Those who wrote the letter include activist Aruna Rai, Harsh Mander, Anjali Bhardwaj, lawyer Vrinda Grover, Zuma Sen, Pratiksha Bakshi, educationist and scientist Zoya Hussain, Romila Thapar, writer Arundhati Roy, politician Manoj Jha, journalist Anuradha Bhasin etc. Apart from this, retired government officers, retired armed forces officers and others are included.
