Mahindra Thar's boom in the market

Mahindra Thar’s boom in the market – Mahindra Thar was launched in India in October last year. Despite the news of a continuous waiting period since its launch, the Indian carmaker has announced that the famous off-road SUV has received 50,000 bookings so far. That is, within 5 months this car has achieved 50,000 bookings. The Mahindra Thar has currently priced at Rs 12.10 lakh to Rs 14.15 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This car is available in two variants AX (O) and LX.

“We are very happy with this unprecedented response, All-New Thar’s response has exceeded all our expectations,” said Vijaya Nakra, CEO of Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Automotive Division. It is clear from this that Mahindra was not expecting the huge demand for this car. Due to this, its production has failed to be done according to the booking. Let us tell you that by the end of 2020, the waiting for the Thar SUV had been around nine months.

After which, earlier this year, Mahindra promised to ramp up its production to meet customer demand and limit the waiting period to around five months. The car is available in both petrol and diesel engines, whose petrol engine generates 150PS of power and 300Nm of torque (MT). At the same time, this engine generates 320Nm torque (AT).

Along with this, the Mahindra Thar also gets a new 2.2-liter turbocharged engine, which generates 130PS of power and 300Nm of torque. Both engines get a 6-speed manual unit as standard, while 6-speed automatic (AT) can also be availed as an option.

This variant has more demand:

The demand for the top automatic variants of Mahindra Thar is highest among customers. In this variant, the company has included all the modern features, which make it a better proposer. At the same time, the demand for convertible models is the lowest, but for this also you will have to wait for about 5 to 6 months.

High demand is not the only reason for waiting:

Let me tell you, high demand is not only the main reason behind the increasing waiting period of this SUV, but also a major reason for the global shortage of semiconductor chips. Actually, when this SUV arrives at the dealership, it does not have a 7.0-inch infotainment system provided. So the dealership has to wait for this infotainment system, it is delivered to the customer only after it is installed.
